About the Course This
course introduces advanced database topics and technological changes
shaping the future of commercial and open-source database systems and
intelligent information systems in the context of the Internet and the
World-Wide Web. Coverage includes databases and the World-Wide Web,
advanced relational database concepts, embedded-SQL and SQL APIs, enhanced
data models, distributed, object-oriented, deductive and Web-enabled
databases. It also covers emerging database technologies and models such
as active databases; temporal databases; spatial databases, multimedia
databases and applications such as data warehousing, data mining and
